Nail fungus is a fairly common disease that does not cause any particular problems in humans in the initial stages. However, with the long-term development of the pathology, the waste products of the pathogenic microflora can cause severe poisoning in the body. Many fairly effective treatments are used to treat the disease, most notably the celandine from nail fungus.
Properties of celandine
Celandine is a poisonous plant that releases orange juice when the stem breaks. In folk medicine, the herb is used to treat many diseases and is part of various cures. Given that the plant is considered toxic, a logical question arises: can nail fungus be treated with celandine?
The herb has no negative effects on the body in cases where the prescribed dose is adhered to during the preparation of the medicinal product. Using celandine against nail fungus can quickly suppress the formation of pathogenic microflora. This is due to the fact that the composition of the plant contains the following ingredients:
- mineral salts;
- alkaloids that suppress the inflammatory process;
- vitamins that restore local immunity;
- essential oils;
- antibiotics;
- organic acids;
- flavonoids.
The following results can be obtained by treating the nail fungus with celandine:
- destroys fungal spores;
- soften the affected areas of the skin;
- relieves inflammation;
- eliminates itching and pain;
- accelerates the healing of open wounds.
Mountain celandine is considered to be the most effective cure. However, you can use a plant collected in other areas to heal your nails. It is used to treat the disease in the following forms:
- alcoholic tincture;
- baths;
- compress;
- decoction;
- oils.
The choice of treatment depends primarily on the patient's preferences. You can achieve the same result in all cases.
Juice
For nail fungus, you can use celandine juice. You should perform the following steps regularly before each treatment:
- steam your fingers in hot water;
- remove the fungal infection from the nail plate with pumice stone or other agent.
To make the juice, all parts of the plant must be rolled through a meat grinder: leaves, stems, flowers. The resulting slurry should be well extruded. Liquid celandine can be mixed with 70% alcohol in a 1: 1 ratio (administered by further infusion throughout the day) or used separately.
The resulting solution is applied 1-2 times a day to the affected areas of the nail plate. The treatment with the plant juice lasts for at least three months and ends after complete repair of the damaged parts of the fingers.
In the warm season, it is recommended to use the juice of freshly cut celandine. Hydrogen peroxide should be used before applying the drug to the affected nail.
Butter
The recipe for making foot mushroom oil contains the following ingredients:
- 1 liter glass jar with lid;
- 50 grams of freshly cut celandine;
- Sunflower oil or olive oil preheated in a water bath of 100 to 150 ml.
Celandine oil from nail fungus is produced as follows:
- The plant is pre-washed under running water. Then place it on a tray and wait for the grass to dry completely.
- Place the celandine in a glass jar.
- The plant is compacted and poured over top with boiled oil.
- The bank should be placed in a place where there is no access to sunlight. The drug is infused for one month.
- At the end of the specified time, the resulting oil must be passed through the cheese cloth.
If desired, the drug can be mixed with lemon juice in 1-2 drops of the latter in a ratio of two tablespoons. These parts soften the plate so that the affected part can be easily removed. Treatment of nail fungus with celandine oil ends after the nail heals.
You can also use a combination of this tool with 3% vinegar to soften the plate. The proportions in this case are similar to those used when using lemon juice. The product obtained by combining celandine oil and vinegar is applied to the affected areas in the form of a compress.
Infusions and decoctions
Celandine-based alcoholic tincture is made from freshly cut plants. The grass must be washed and dried from moisture. The plant is then mixed with vodka in a 2: 1 ratio. The tincture is matured for 12 days. Other recipes use 250 ml of 70% alcohol and 20 drops of celandine oil. The product is infused for up to one day.
The device should be used with extreme caution as it has many contraindications. Initially, you can apply up to 5 drops of alcoholic tincture to the damaged area of the nail plate. In the future, the dose of the drug will be gradually increased to 20 drops. The duration of treatment should not exceed two weeks.
You will also need the washed and dried stems and leaves of the plant to make the decoction. Pour each ingredient into a pot and pour boiling water to completely cover the celandine. The pan or dish is then wrapped in a thick cloth and placed in a dark place. The broth should be infused for five days and then the product should be filtered through gauze.
To increase the effectiveness of the drug, it is recommended to mix it with olive or vegetable oil in a ratio of 1: 1. This medicine is used 2-3 times a day and lasts for about two weeks.
You will also need fresh, previously dried celandine leaves and stems to make another decoction. Mix 5 tablespoons of the plant with 6 millets of water. The composition is then placed on the fire and boiled for a few minutes. After completion of the last step, the product is diluted with cold water and warmed to room temperature. The decoction is applied to the affected areas of the nail and matured for 30 minutes. This method of treatment is supplemented by antifungal ointments.
Compresses
Therapeutic compresses obtained from celandine are used primarily in the later stages of the disease, when the fungus has affected the deep structures of the nail plate. This device softens the affected area, allowing the therapeutic components to penetrate deeply.
The product obtained by mixing iodinol and pre-crushed dry celandine is used for the compress. The product thus obtained is applied in small amounts to the damaged nail plate and coated with cellophane. The compress should be kept for more than 20 minutes. At the end of the procedure, it is not recommended to wet your fingers for 3-4 hours.
After wrapping, it is recommended to treat the damaged nail plate with an antifungal ointment. For best results, it is recommended that the procedure be performed at bedtime.
Trays
Baths are primarily used to prevent the development of fungal infections. To create them, you need to complete the following steps:
- prepare 5 tablespoons of dried celandine and pour on it 1. 5 liters of boiling water;
- the composition is again placed on the stove and boiled for 5 minutes;
- the product is diluted with cold water.
The duration of each session using therapeutic baths shall not exceed 20 minutes.
A drug based on fungal alkalis has recently been commonly used to treat pathology. This device is sold in many pharmacies and is used to remove various skin blemishes, including papillomas and corns. The plant itself is not included in the product. The drug is mainly used as an adjunct in the treatment of fungi. It can stop the development of the inflammatory process and partially relieve itching.
